Blumar and Ventisqueros, BluGlacier’s parent companies, are deeply committed to promoting the sustainability of both the products that we produce and the global salmon farming industry. A founding member of the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI), Blumar was one of the first Chilean salmon producers to be Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP) Certified, and the second in Chile to be Fully BAP 4 Star Certified.
Ventisqueros achieved full BAP 4 Star Certification in January 2017 and is now widely recognized for producing Chile’s Most Sustainable Farmed Salmon – Silverside™.
Silverside™ Salmon is Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certified and grown using completely sustainable, algae-based, DHA Omega 3 rich AlgaPrime™ feed. Silverside’s™ revolutionary diet achieves a best-in-the-industry Fish-In Fish-Out (FIFO) ratio of .5 and makes Ventisqueros the first large-scale, ocean pen producer to produce more fish protein than was required to grow the fish.
